INHALTE / ZIELE

The project M·U·T „Memory · Understanding · Tolerance“ deals with historical and political topics, in particular the events of the Second World War in the Emsland region (Germany) and Liepāja (Latvia). The focus is on the Esterwegen Concentration Camp Memorial and the Holocaust Memorial in Liepāja as important places of learning. The aim of the project is to develop digital learning opportunities that combine historical and political education with basic digital education. These offers are particularly aimed at migrants and disadvantaged adults who need low-level access to the subject matter.

The aims of the project include promoting a lively culture of remembrance by supporting society in dealing with its history and past. Another central goal is inclusion, especially of immigrants, by offering them easy access to historical and political education in the regional context of the country in which they live. In addition, knowledge of historical events is to be expanded and deepened in order to promote reflection and the transfer of experiences from the past to the present.

The project also helps to promote civic engagement by supporting participation and responsible action. At the same time, the media skills of teachers and participants are strengthened in order to facilitate the use of digital learning formats. Another aim is to convey European values, which are strengthened by dealing with our history. Overall, all participants should contribute to a lively culture of remembrance and take responsibility for the future.

Learning visits to other European countries - in this case Latvia - are an integral part of learning for both employees and participants in our Erasmus+ training programmes.
