MODULE 8 : The effects of National Socialist propaganda

This final module looks at the role of Nazi propaganda and its far-reaching impact on society. Participants will learn about the Nuremberg Race Laws and how they were used to discriminate against minorities. The module concludes by looking at biographies that show how Nazi racial ideology was put into practice.
A relationship between Jews and non-Jews was considered ‘racial dishonour’ by the Nazis. The picture shows Julius Wolff and his non-Jewish fiancée Christine Neemann being humiliated by the SA in the streets of the East Frisian town of Norden in 1935. They are forced to carry signs reading ‘I am a racial desecrator’ and ‘I am a German girl and let the Jew desecrate me’. Christine is locked up in a concentration camp and released after a month. Julius is taken to the Esterwegen concentration camp; after his release, he flees to the USA.
